Two's a Pair!

I have always loved watching people knit.  The fluidity of their hands while using needles to make yarn take form into something lovely. Of course, it is even more intriguing beacuse I like to watch people's hands and I love to create.   It was only natural for me to want to make something beyond the beginner's scarf!  So I set out to make Amelia a pair of socks!  A daunting task and an ambitious one because it requires more than the standard two knitting needles and is said to be challenging and confusing.  So I ventured to the quaint little knitting shop downtown, picked up some needles and the perfect yarn to make socks!  The lady there suggested that I make a tube sock as it would be my first time. Socks with a heel can be difficult.  Ha!  Of course, I had to do something challenging.

And I did!  With the help of  the Silver's Sock Class online and a few YouTube videos (I couldn't even remember how to cast on!), I made Amelia my very first sock! It fits perfectly with a little growing room! And even though it has a few imperfections, it is so cute and I am excited to get started on it's partner to make a pair!

Taking the Plunge

I have decided to finally start a blog. So it is only fitting that I begin with this story!  I hope you enjoy following!

Around 4 am this morning, Jonah came into bed to snuggle with me.  This is a usual occurrance if he isn't sleeping well.  He started to whisper something that I couldn't quite understand.  I finally figured it out.  He had to poop!  I told him well, come on, lets go.  Off to the bathroom we went.  Everything was fine until I flushed the toilet. I had remembered earlier in the evening that Ava had said that something was wrong with it, that it wouldn't go down.  I told her not to worry, I would fix it.  Well, of course, I forgot.

So here I am, in the wee hours of the day, with the water to the brim.  No big deal!  I grab the plunger and get to work.  Next thing I know, off pops the handle!  The plunger is wedged in the hole of the toilet!  STUCK! Seriously STUCK! UGH!  All kinds of thoughts run through my head. John is out of town and I gotta call the plumber for a stuck plunger, OH BOY!  There's toilet paper and well, Jonah's business in there, so I can't just stick my hand in there and get ahold of it! What do I do??  Finally after many attempts to screw the handle back on and pull ever so slightly, the suction breaks and the toilet flushes! Crisis averted! Back to bed to snuggle with my boy!
